Plan – Stephen Edward Boudreau, S.E.B.
Prelude to Vision Statement
I create a personal vision statement before delving into my plan and template. A personal vision statement is identified after fearless and moral inventory taking and writing, following four thought-provoking steps, including values and beliefs, strengths and skills, goals and aspirations, and passions and interests. As follows:
1. Values and Beliefs
a. Personal Experiences
i. Significant Life Events: Diagnosed with attention deficit disorder as a child, medication to treat illness rejected and Introduction to vices, illegal drugs, nicotine and alcohol as a teenager, resulting in substance abuse disorder that was internalized with denial until early forties after visits to numerous treatment facilities. Having experienced a decade of organized minor hockey as a goaltender as an adolescent, I learned to operate as an outsider within a tight-knit group.
In my early thirties, I married a medical professional in the early stages of professional and personal development. We disconnected early in the relationship and had a child despite that. As a result of my then-pattern of substance abuse and my refusal to keep to myself, the relationship dissolved, and we are estranged. I have no contact with our daughter.
Having undergone rehabilitation treatment on multiple occasions and suffering relapse, sometimes alcohol, sometimes illegal drugs, on every attempt since my last trip in 2025, I have identified process lessons through education, treatment and experience. Having not lost hope or enthusiasm, I am excited more and more as I get to know myself sober, on prescribed medications from medical professionals for my self-accepted and diagnosed conditions, with one vice, caffeine.
Through experiences with drug addiction and alcoholism into my forties, I concluded that temperance through connection, medical and anonymous support is the best action. I'm a Red Seal Certified Journeyperson Cook. I founded a company in 2005 named Objective Marketing Group, despite having no education in commerce and found success with it, being profitable. My powerlessness over drugs and alcohol resulted in my closing the doors. I have completed all but one course to finish a university degree, achieving a professional qualification without credentials as a commissioned officer in the Royal Canadian Navy, and retiring honourably in 2020 with the retired title of Lieutenant Navy. I identify as Navy Trained, which includes duty, loyalty, integrity, and courage. Naval professional qualification without credentials comes at a cost. Bipolar one, and post-traumatic stress because of military treatment and culture while deployed over hundreds of days at sea.
I identified a woman as a muse, whom I only spent ninety days with, who likely has no positive impression of me, despite that it has profoundly impacted me and whom I called my Queen, and playfully now personally identify as the Queen of Hearts. I had never said anything like that before to women, and it sticks out. My memory of her affects me as a source of inspiration, including ingraining the characteristics of effort, honesty, bible study and education in the arts and identifying myself as "The Tramp"—embodying personality traits of Charlie Chaplin's character, including resilience, optimism, compassion, kindness, resourcefulness, ingenuity, playfulness, humour, loneliness and vulnerability. I have also become a born-again Christian. This muse inspired me to explore hypnotism instinctively. Through my experience, I have identified card games like Bridge, Baccarat and Texas Hold ‘em. Also, other games such as Chess and Go. I specifically study them and prioritize improving rather than focusing on a destination. I created a platform, my website, for creative expression, networking and connection, information sharing, personal development, and showcasing myself to potential opportunities. I officially call my father's place home. However, I'm homeless and prefer to go from person to person and be an outsider and an adventurer, going from place to place. I have identified my number, eight, which I use in various ways to mention my favourite shape, an octagon, and the number of my core values. My colour is black, which I wear the most. I identify as “The Tramp” through my personal experience.
ii. Emotional Responses: My personal experience evokes a range of emotional responses.
a. Self-Empathy and Compassion: My journey has had significant challenges, including substance abuse, estrangement from my daughter, mental health issues and a struggle for identity and belonging. I can recognize and acknowledge my feelings without judgment by understanding my emotional states and origins. I focus on treating myself with the same kindness and care I would offer someone I am close to in the now. I take it to mean being gentle to myself in times of rejection, failure or worst-case result. When I make a mistake, I encourage myself to acknowledge the error, learn from it and move on without self-punishment. This has led me to resilience. Giving me a stronger ability to bounce back from adversity.
b. Inspiration and Hope: Despite my difficulties, I have experienced growth, self-discovery, and the pursuit of creative and personal goals. I’ve found inspiration in a muse, embraced new interests and personal development, and acted based on inspiration from memory, about my inspirations and otherwise. My creative action is based on external motivation from experienced stimuli, from persons in my presence or experienced through media and other immersive experiences. I am propelled by hopefulness, even though it is not expected. Expect the worst, hope for the best, rather than inaction from fear of failure, even though it is expected. When I fail, I do not lose hope and give up. I am in the state of mind to try again. This pattern leads to emotional resilience.
c. Sadness and Reflection: Being homeless, my home address is my father’s house. Accepting mental health issues and being a loner and outsider evoke sorrow and reflection in the first contemplation. Then, I move on to the motivation to make lemonade from the lemons life provided. I identify as “The Tramp” because of my circumstances; sadness at expectation moves into excitement from hope, which is the faith. I have learned to keep the faith and not remember failure, giving me identity and purpose. An adventure awaits, and that is how I go about negative happenstances.
d. Admiration for Resilience: My ability to overcome adversity, achieve professional success and maintain a sense of adventure and exploration as “The Tramp” has led to confidence in the outcome of resilience and determination. I am proud of my determination to go from failure to failure until I succeed. I have concluded that pain, struggle, lack of affection and being on the outside looking in have resulted from learning a valuable education that would garner an immense price tag. I have received it through experiencing it.
e. Curiosity and Interest: I look for clues to find unique and personal identifiers such as the number eight, the colour black and identity as “The Tramp” which piques my interest in understanding the significance and more profound meaning behind these ideas. I consider this crucial in my learning, motivation and personal development. I wonder if I can write, sing, act by voice, on stage, or set and dance. This has led to my website, follow-on behaviours, and attempts to be considered. Curiosity has led me to art in all forms, and interest keeps me here. I will restate that I am motivated by faith in the journey despite expecting failure at the destination.
